Training and Experience

Training :

I did my MBBS from prestigious Grant medical College and Sir J.J. Hospital, Mumbai followed by one year of peripheral village service, as a Medical Officer, at Sawalaj, Sangali. Then I did my orthopaedic training from the prestigious Seth G.S. Medical College, K.E.M. Hospital, Mumbai. After doing PLAB exams for UK in 2002, started my training at Doncaster Royal Infirmary followed by Weston General Hospital, The County Hospital Hereford. For the last 3 years I worked at West Suffolk Hospital, Bury St Edmunds.

Experience :

I have around 14 years of Post MS Orthopaedics experience so far. I am currently working as a Consultant in Joint Replacement Department.

Most of my work includes Arthroplasty Surgeries, Knee Arthroscopy Surgeries and handles Trauma patients. I am working in Bharati Medical College as a Honorary Associate Professor and do teaching for students at UG and PG levels.

Courses :

I do chair Faculty positions at multiple courses and conferences including Arthroscopy, Joint replacements and Trauma. I am a member of organizing team conducting The Royal College of Surgeons Accredited Arthroplasty and Arthroscopy. Core Skills Courses at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital, Pune.

While in UK I did attend many courses including trauma, arthroplasty, and resurfacing, basic sciences, AO courses at Edinburgh, Leeds, Oxford, Cambridge and Nottingham locations.

Audits (UK) :

I did five clinical audits while in Doncaster and Bury St Edmunds in UK.

They did help to understand the problem areas and lead to change in hospital policy.

The topics covered were Humerus fracture, Tranexamic acid, use of synthetic bone in revision hip replacements, retransfusion of Patients own Blood.

Teaching Experience :

I have taught undergraduates, pre-registration house officers, senior house officers as well as Nursing & Physiotherapist during my postgraduate training.

Currently working at an Associate Professor level in Bharati Hospital.

I am involved in many cadaveric and saw bone training workshops for private practitioners.

Administrative Experience :

At Primary Health Centre service, I was involved with record keeping and completing government targets on family planning and vaccination. I did a Project about Nutrition through personal garden to achieve aim of Healthy Wellbeing. It turned out popular for school and panchayat visits. I scored ‘Grade A’ for my overall performance.

  1. ‘Changing epidemiology & outcome of Neonatal Septic Arthritis’. Accepted as dissertation for Master of Surgery 2002, University of Bombay.
  2. ‘Long arm cast in extension for midshaft fracture radius-ulna in children’. Accepted as dissertation for Fellow of College of Physicians and Surgeons 2002, Bombay.
  3. Current Project: Synovial Fluid Analysis in patients having Osetoarthritis regarding IL1Beta, NO, NO: Nitrite ratio, GAG levels and to understand the biochemical level changes in OA. : Multiple Publications
  4. Current Project: Role of IL6 in Infections as compared to CRP & ESR for Fracture Patients. Assessment of 300 patients.
  5. Inno Indigo Project (Nov 2016): Research project in between four countries inclusive of India, Germany, Estonia and Belgium. Knee Arthritis wit synovial Fluid and Omega three nutritional Supplements.

  6. Guinness Book of world record: Received a personalized certificate for taking part in Satara Hill Marathon in July 2015. I was part of a group who attempted the maximum number of half marathoners on a hill run.

Extra-Curricular Activities :

  • I love to travel and be with nature. I am very fond of classical music and can play Tabla, a drum-like Indian instrument.
  • I acted few roles in different plays. I am very much interested in Indian cooking.
  • I enjoy adventure sports like trekking, snow skiing. Successfully completed the Everest Base Camp in April 2009. In December 2013 I did Kedarkantha Summit near Har Ki Doon peak.
  • Recently did Kalsubai Peak, One tree Hill Matheran climb which are said to be one of the difficult treks in Maharashtra.
